Evgeny Margulis is a Soviet and Russian rock and blues musician.

Background

Evgeny Margulis was born in 1955 in Moscow to a middle-class family of Jewish descent - his father was an engineer and his mother was a high school teacher.

Career

He is considered a “guru” of the Moscow rock ‘n’ roll and one of the best Blues guitarists, bass guitarists and bluesmen in Russia. In 1999 he was awarded with the title of Meritorious Artist

Evgeny originally planned to become a doctor, but at some point became so much interested in music, that he decided to change his career plans: at the age of 19 he joined as a guitarist a well-known band called Mashina Vremeni.

Evgeny played in the group until 1979, when he left it together with the drummer Sergey Kavagoe, with whom he co-founded another group Voskreseniye, where he played until 1980.
